The Prévention Routière association works every day to change behavior on the road.
behavior on the road. This May 23, in the Nelson Mandela garden (Châtelet-lesHalles, Paris), the association and its partner, the insurer Wakam, are organizing a unique festival. The music and entertainment on offer are designed to raise awareness of the need to share the road in a peaceful manner.
The event is also an opportunity for the Prévention Routière association to launch its
petition calling on citizens to commit to a 30 km/h speed limit in the city’s
city centers to make urban spaces safer and less accident-prone.

“La ville est belle” festival: when music soothes urban mobility

The “La ville est belle” festival, a first-of-its-kind festival on the theme of “Make noise for road safety” taking place this Thursday, May 23 in Paris, aims to call for a calmer sharing of the road around a multitude of urban sounds.

Festival-goers will discover prevention workshops and live musical performances, a
a roller brass band, a DJ set and the artist Jacques, present for an exceptional concert
the first 5 minutes of which are exclusive to the Prévention Routière association.

In addition to musical discoveries, awareness-raising workshops led by volunteers from the Prévention Routière association will remind the public of the best practices to adopt for calmer, safer travel, with a focus on visibility, reaction time, blind spots and multimodality.

An original sound creation by artist Jacques
Jacques, a 32-year-old electronic music artist, has established himself as a key figure
who distinguishes himself by the musical challenges he takes up. He draws his inspiration
his surroundings, using his sonic environment as material to create these
live. Exclusively for the Prévention Routière association and Wakam, the artist once again pushes
once again pushes his limits, offering a 5-minute set that sets to music the noises
sounds of urban space.

A petition to change the face of road safety

On the occasion of the festival, the Prévention Routière association kicks off its petition
for the generalization of the 30 km/h speed limit in cities. The first signatures will be collected by volunteers
volunteers from the festival audience, and the association is now calling on the French public to sign
online petition.

The facts are clear: the speed of motorized vehicles is still an aggravating factor in traffic accidents and one of the main causes of death on France’s roads. At 30 km/h, a pedestrian in a city has a 90% chance of surviving a collision with a vehicle. At 30 km/h, a pedestrian in a city has a 90% chance of surviving a collision with a vehicle.
Generalizing the 30 km/h speed limit in France’s city centers and residential areas is the only effective solution to improve cohabitation on the road and in our streets, at a time when fatal accidents are on the rise again this year.

“We’re calling on all French people to take action to make their cities safer and more beautiful. ”
The more signatures we collect on this petition, the more legitimate we will be in our dealings with the public authorities and local councillors to make 30 km/h the general rule in towns and save many lives on the roads”, explains Anne Lavaud, general delegate of the Prévention Routière association.
